The tournament has started off on a good note amidst lot of enthusiasm and camaraderie and the competition is likely to get intense and exciting with every passing day. Besides all the reverie and passion attached to the premier tournament of soccer, the ongoing world cup has also raised certain eyebrows regarding issues related to ‘Vuvuzela’ and ‘Jabulani’.
Most of the football lovers across the world would have already come across these two terms that are creating buzz- not for very good reasons! Vuvuzela is a stadium horn blown by the spectators during matches and Jabulani is the official brand of football that is used in the matches of the world cup.
Vuvuzela: This plastic noise-maker is a very South African way of celebrating the game of soccer and it has become an integral part of the game in this African country. It is said that the original version of vuvuzela was made from tin which is now available in plastic form which is easy to handle and safe to use. Vuvuzela grew in popularity in South Africa after being used as a tool to cheer in football matches in the 1990’s and at present it has taken the center stage when it comes to cheering or making noise.
